Description
The path to the Kumuwela viewpoint travels through dense forests of trees, vines, flowers and ferns. The hike ends with magnificent views into Waimea Canyon and the ocean. From the trailhead, take the right fork after the road to Camp Sloggett. Contine 0.6 miles to the end of the road. Continue on and cross over Elekeninui and then Maluapopoki Streams. Continue hiking south as the trail descends further into the forest, and eventually reaches Kumuwela Road. Head right and walk 0.4 miles to the Kumuwela Viewpoint.

From Waimea, drive north on Highway 550 6.7 miles to the junction with Kokee road/Highway 552. Continue driving north 8.7 miles. Drive 0.1 miles past the museum and turn right. Drive 0.5 miles to the Camp Sloggett turnoff on the right, park here.
